Blues vs. Special Olympics Floor Hockey team

Summerside Police Services Blues were finally victories on Tuesday night against the Special Olympics PEI Summerside Floor Hockey team. The Special Olympics Team came out strong leading at one point, the game changer was when Summerside Police received two minor penalties back to back for checking Ben (the athlete in Red standing beside Cpl RYDER in the photo).  During the power play, Summerside Police set up a road block and stopped the Special Olympic Team and scored two shorthanded goals which turned out to be the game turner.   The Special Olympics Team received a couple of penalties for delay of game (repair equipment, glasses, helmets, tape up cuts) but Summerside Police could not capitalize on this.  The Special Olympics team had a number of chances to score in the late minutes of the game and slipped one by with 10 seconds remaining.

The Special Olympics Team had noticed and made comment that a number of Summerside Police Services Blues players were NOT in attendance and wanted to pass along a Big Hello.  I quickly informed them that hard work and training will sharpen their skills in the hope they make the next game.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this event.  I will keep you posted for the next scheduled game.
